Otomayim: Possibly premie zucchini! I checked under the flowers' skirts today though and discovered that all the flowers so far are male... so I probably won't have female flowers for a while.
Sillyduckie: That packet *is* leftovers! The opened packet I have is still over half-full and has provided me with close to 80 arugula plants already :-o I figured if I waited until the first packet was done to start on the second, the seeds might not be viable by the time I get to them. The germination rate surprised me big time. So plant lots of arugula! Or share the seeds with someone else! Or scatter them in someone else's garden and give them a surprise, LOL :-)
thanks again for the arugula seeds, i'll plant them soon. :) i might try to keep the pot hidden behind some shrubbery and hope that it will be shady enough.
do you think your cloches were a catalyst in your zucchini flowers flowering? maybe you could make some fried zucchini flowers? i've got a recipe for that...
It could be the cloches! I have been reading that other people up here are getting blossoms, too, but I got a later start than most people. But the plants seem happy enough, so I guess I won't worry... and now that I've calmed down, the seed packet does say that the plants are "compact." I just didn't expect them to be quite *so* compact!
What??? You looked under their skirts!?! What is that Washington air doing to you?!? Oh well, since they were all male anyway, I'm sure they didn't mind. Males tend to like that sort of attention...

That's our talented Satrina...you had no idea she was a licensed zucchini weenie inspector, did you?
(Either that, or just a plant pervert!)
The male zucchini would like to clarify: "It's not a skirt, it's a KILT!"
ROFLMAO!!!!
